Best Game Show Ever!

Cash Cab on Discovery Channel is the best game/reality show ever!  There is so much to like about it.  First the setting.  It takes place in a real taxi cab on the streets of New York.  The participants aren't seeking riches or glory, but are just going about their business and need a ride.  They get in the cab, anywhere from one to four people, in whatever state of mind they might be in.  The host, Ben Bailey, is way more fun than Alex Trebek or Meredith Veira, always plays it like a cabbie at first, sometimes even affecting a goofy accent, asking "Hiya, where ya goin?"  and after the passenger tells the destination he hits the switch that activates ceiling lights and fanfare.  The passengers react variously, sometimes jumping startled, sometimes in a confused daze, sometimes with delight because they are familiar with Cash Cab.  Ben explains that they are on Cash Cab and asks if they want to play.  Most say "Sure" but there have been some who decline.  A couple of serious dudes seemed like they may have been out to do a hit on somebody and exited.  It's a typical trivia quiz with relatively modest prize amounts compared to Jeopardy or Millionaire, but it's three strikes and you're out.  He actually pulls over and drops the losers off on the spot.  Winners typically reach their destination winning $500-$1000 where they are then offered a double or nothing video bonus.  It's fascinating to me to see how people react to the whole thing, how much they seem to need the money or taking a "what the heck it's windfall" attitude.  Great show, check your listings and enjoy it.

We're just beginning what looks to be a hefty snowfall so I'm posting a pic I took in Kim & Dan's backyard one fine summer day.  Gumbo's Landscaping, they're the best!
